Julianny Moyet Ortiz(b. 2002) is a Puerto Rican artist based in Utuado. Born in Santurce and raised in Utuado, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. After spending five years away from the mountains she calls home, her longing for the countryside became the heart of her artistic practice.
Her work centers on foggy, abstracted landscapes as a way to reconnect with the lush scenery she left behind. She focuses on capturing ephemeral moments in nature — mist moving through the hills, shifting light, or the quiet transformation of a landscape. These brief, unrepeatable events become a form of memory. Using watered-down acrylics that resemble watercolor, she layers delicate washes to recreate these transient atmospheres, inviting viewers into a personal sense of reconnection with the land. Each piece becomes both a form of escape — a visual return to home — and an open invitation for viewers to pause, reflect, and find their own way back to nature.
